CONNECTING WITH OTHERS,
GROWING TOWARDS THE FUTURE
To achieve our vision we will focus on 3 key threads. These threads are the pedagogy behind the curriculum delivery at Seddon School and are developed across the levels of the school.
Through the implementation of these threads our students will be actively engaged learners who experience success.
We want our students to develop a strong sense of identity and character, through building self confidence and developing values such as: responsibility, empathy, integrity and respect resulting in a sense of pride in themselves and their community.
We want them to have a 'can-do' attitude in their approach to learning. Students at Seddon School will be optimistic, persistent, motivated, resilient and reliable.
We want our students to have high expectations of themselves, and have strategies to achieve this.
We want them to contribute to our community in a socially and culturally appropriate way.
Connecting with others:
We want our students to relate well to others locally, nationally and globally, knowing about rights, roles and responsibilities.
We want our students to have an awareness and acceptance of their own and other cultures. They will recognize the bicultural nature of New Zealand Society and their obligations under the Treaty of Waitangi.
We want our students to be effective interpersonal communicators who confidently convey oral, written or technological messages.
We want our students to have a connection with and to make a contribution to the local, national and global environment.
Growing for the Future:
We want our students to be literate, numerate and conversant with the inquiry process, able to ask questions and actively seek, use and create knowledge.
They will be reflective, critical and innovative thinkers and problem-solvers.
They will be effective interpreters and communicators using language, symbols and text.
Students will be literate in forms of information and communication technologies and able to choose appropriately.
